Verification of passenger details
  1. It is the passenger’s sole responsibility to ensure that passenger name(s) provided to Platform 9 are exactly as it would appear in the passenger’s passport i.e. correct spelling and order of name. Rail companies reserve the right to charge penalties or invalidate the booking and passes issued should there be any discrepancies.
  2. It is the passenger’s responsibility to check carefully for any errors or omissions in the bookings IMMEDIATELY upon receiving them.
  3. Please note that passengers may be denied boarding if errors are discovered upon check-in at the train station. Platform 9 will not be held responsible if passengers are denied boarding.
Passport validity, entry & transit visas and travel advisories
  1. Passengers must ensure that their international passport has at least 6 months validity from date of return and has sufficient pages for immigration stamping and/or visa application purposes.
  2. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure all entry visas or transit visas that are required for entry or stopovers are duly applied.
  3. Transit visas must be duly obtained if the planes’ flight paths involve a transit or stopover in another country. For example, a flight to New Zealand which requires stopover in Australia, or a flight to Canada which requires transit in the United States of America.
  4. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that he/she has all the valid travel documents such as passport, visa, vaccinations, health certificates and all necessary travel documents as required by the various government authorities of the country/countries to be visited.
  5. Passengers are advised to check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore website relating to the countries they are travelling to for any applicable travel advisories.
  6. Please note that any advice given may not be definitive as there may be changes to the requirement that we are notified of. In any event, it is the sole responsibility of each traveller to ensure that he/she has a relevant visa and we cannot be held liable for any advice given in the course of a visa submission.

  8. Passengers are advised to purchase travel insurance for protection against any contingency during your journey.
Eligibility
  1. Rail passes are special passes available only to travellers visiting from foreign countries i.e. Europe rail passes is not valid for permanent resident of Europe, Japan rail passes is not valid for Japan permanent residents and Taiwan rail passes is not valid for Taiwanese & Taiwan permanent residents. However, you may be eligible for such passes if you have been living in a foreign country for more than 6 months or hold residency papers.
Payment, amendments and cancellation
  1. CANCELLATION AND REFUND FOR RAIL PASSES

    A refund processing fee of S$40 per person applies. This fee is in addition to the Rail Company’s cancellation charges. Once tickets are issued, there will be rail company penalty charges and Platform 9’s admin fees for any amendments or cancellation of booking and tickets will apply. To avoid such penalties, passengers are advised to check all booking itineraries to ensure accuracy in passenger’s name, title, departure dates, train details, etc. before proceeding with payment. There is no refund value for promotional fares.

    Europe Rail Pass – A 15% penalty will be charge for totally unused passes returned in one year of issuing date. In addition, a refund processing fee of S$40 per person per sector/pass applies. Seat reservations and validated passes or partial used pass are non-refundable.

    Japan Rail Pass – A 10% penalty will be charge for totally unused passes returned in one year of issuing date. In addition, a refund processing fee of S$40 per person /pass applies. Validated passes or partial used pass are non-refundable.

    Taiwan Rail Pass – A 10% penalty will be charge for totally unused passes returned in one year of issuing date. In addition, a refund processing fee of S$40 per person per sector/pass applies. Validated passes or partial used pass are non-refundable.

    Korail Pass
    – A 10% penalty will be charge for totally unused passes returned in one year of issuing date. In addition, a refund processing fee of S$40 per person per sector/pass applies. Validated passes or partial used pass are non-refundable.

    *Handling fees and shipping fees are not refundable. Processing fees are inclusive of 9% GST.

  2. DEPOSIT, AMENDMENT AND REFUND FOR TOUR PACKAGES

    A 50% deposit per person is required for each reservation. The deposit is strictly non-refundable, unless the reservation cannot be confirmed. Please note that a non-refundable one-off booking fee will apply per passenger for all bookings made.

    Any amendment made to a train/hotel reservation or tour package is subject to a minimum handling fee of S$40 (inclusive of 9% GST) per change. This fee is in addition to any amendment fees imposed by the rail company, hotel or overseas tour operator.

    Refund is only valid for cancellation done 7 days before departure. 50% of full package refund applies for cancellation done more than 31 days before departure. 20% of full package refund applies for cancellation done 8 to 30 days before departure.

    Promotional fares have restricted use and no changes to travel date and itinerary once a ticket has been issued.

  3. PROCESSING REFUNDS

    We will submit your documents for refund in the event of a cancellation or when travel is not fully utilised within 3 working days. Depending on the rail company or travel supplier, it may take between 3 to 6 months to process a refund.

  4. PAYMENT

    We accept cash, cheque and most major credit cards. A 3% handling fee will be charged for credit card payment. All cheque payments must be received one week before ticketing deadline or date of departure or whichever is earlier. Once payment has been made, no subsequent rate reductions will be applied retroactively. Platform 9 reserves the right to re-invoice should an error be made in computing the package price.

  5. ISSUANCE OF TRAVEL DOCUMENT

    Full payment is required prior to the issuance of your travel document (Rail Passes, Hotel/Tour Voucher, Travel Insurance, etc).

Booking conditions and disclaimers
  1. Prices displayed are not guaranteed until passes and travel vouchers are purchased and issued.
  2. Bookings are deemed tentative and non-binding until full payment has been made successfully and passes and travel vouchers have been issued.
  3. Platform 9 reserves the right to refuse any bookings if the fares/prices provided are found to be in error or have been withdrawn by the Rail Company/hotel/tour operator or the promotional ticket stocks are not available.
  4. Platform 9 shall not be held liable for any consequential damages, any direct or indirect losses, or additional out of pocket costs or expenses arising out of any aborted trips or changes in trip arrangements due to any errors or omissions in the bookings.
  5. Any subsequent decrease in prices, be it a new promotional price or discount, will not be entertained once full payment has been made.
  6. Platform 9 is liable, under whatever circumstances, limited only to the full refund of any deposit or payment already made by the passenger.
  7. By completing the reservation, you would have agreed that the information you have provided is true.
  8. By completing the reservation, you would have read and agreed to the terms and conditions which include the fare rules, pricing, and other conditions.
